Jan Dibbets 1966-1976 – Toward Another Photography
On Friday 23 January 2026 H’ART Museums presents the exhibition Jan Dibbets 1966-1976 – Toward Another Photography. It is the first monographic presentation dedicated to this artist in Amsterdam since his exhibition at Stedelijk Museum in 1972. The exhibition looks back on a crucial period in Jan Dibbets’ (1941) oeuvre when he gave up painting for photography.

Using documents and archival material, the exhibition places Dibbets and his work within the international context of the 1960s and 1970s. It was a period in which conceptual art, arte povera, and Land Art developed internationally within a few years.
The exhibition, curated by Erik Verhagen, is made possible in part by the Gieskes-Strijbis Fonds.
